Music at Woodsetts
At Woodsetts Primary we love music! Please explore this section of our website to find out more about our music curriculum and how we promote an understanding and love for music across school.
Curriculum
Every class has dedicated time during the week to learn and practise their musical skills. We have created skills progression grids which allow teachers to plan carefully sequenced series of learning to help children develop and grow in their musical understanding and skill. To support with lesson delivery, we also make use of an online learning system called "Charanga Musical School" which provides songs, resources, interactive games and more.
You can find out more about "Charanga Musical School" by clicking on this link: https://charanga.com/site/musical-school/
Our curriculum skills grid can be found in the skills grid section of our website.

Assemblies and Class Briefing
As we like to develop and broaden children's experience and knowledge of different musical genres, we always start our assemblies with a different piece of music for them to enjoy. These are then discussed and shared via the assembly board:
Each week we enjoy a whole school music assembly where we come together to learn, share and practise new songs. We also share information about different composers and musicians though our weekly Class Briefing.
Professional Lessons
Specialist music lessons are on offer at our school led by a professional musician. Children are able to learn piano, drums, percussion and more. If you are interested in these lessons, please contact our Main Office for info.
